Rosswell L. Hayden

Rosswell L. Hayden, age 84, or Carbondale, died at 3:30 pm Monday, June 24, 2002, at Memorial Hospital, Carbondale.  He was born August 24, 1917 in Neoga, IL to William and Sarah (Love) Hayden.  He married Betty Roddy in Salem November 22, 1951.  She survives.
Other survivors are a daughter and son-in-law , Melas and Tom Millar, of Grayville, IL, son and daughter-in-law Jeffrey and Doris Hayden of Anna, son David R. Hayden of Manchester, MO, son and daugher-in-law Brooks and Janet Hayden of DuQuoin, and son Tracy Hayden of Carbondale, nine grandchildren and sister Mildred Huddlestun of Salem.  He was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
Mr. Hayden had worked as a lab technician for the state of Illinois before his retirement.  He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the US Army.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 27, 2002, at the Huffman-Harker Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Schell officiating.  Burial was at Paradise Cemetery, Salem. His granddaughter Sarah Hayden played taps.  The visitation was from 5 until 8 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Lone Oak Baptist Church, Energy, IL, where Mr. Hayden was a member.
